As an artist based out of Arizona, East Crosman wishes to identify and highlight the beauty and complexity of the place that he considers home. Born in Utah, Crosman moved to Arizona where he was raised until college. Currently based out of Flagstaff where he attends Northern Arizona University studying Painting in the School of Art + Design. Growing up in the larger Phoenix area is the biggest inspiration for his work, the beautiful landscapes, sunsets, and ecosystems of the Southwest drive the themes behind his work. Through the past three years, East has traveled across the Southwest by motorcycle looking for inspiration drawn from the desert. The scenic drives, and lonesome hours on the road build his connection to the land around, when all you can do for hours at a time is admire.

Artist Statement 

I am a desert artist, born in Utah and raised in Arizona, where I am currently based. My work is deeply inspired by the unique life and landscapes of the Southwestern United States, as well as the region's rich history, stereotypes, and perceptions. Currently attending Northern Arizona University, I blend contemporary storytelling with a combination of dynamic, fast brushstrokes and layers of muted, somber colors. Through detailed symbolism and expressive compositions, my art seeks to provoke thought and intrigue, offering a deeper exploration of the complexities of life in the Southwest and its evolving identity.
