With an international background in education, research, publishing, nonprofit leadership, and folk music and dance and a PhD in French and Comparative Literature, Dr. Kate Rose currently serves as Executive Director of the nonprofit Wild Steps, in Flagstaff, AZ. She has published articles on cutting-edge interdisciplinary trauma research and is the leading international expert on the work of influential French psychiatrist Muriel Salmona. She is a performing interactive fiddle-player and leads Inclusively Wild Community Dance twice a month for the overall community and for disabled dancers. Through Wild Steps and other partnerships, she seeks to connect cultures through folk music and dance traditions and push the bounds of musical possibility.
Artist Statement: 
Fiddler, interactive performer, and Irish dance leader Kate Rose plays from a rooted, heartfelt tradition learned from her years among the fiddling farmers of County Clare, Ireland. Her performances captivate audiences of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, as she gets them to laugh, clap along, and learn a jig. She offers fun educational performances as well as music to set the atmosphere for any occasion or enliven any event. You will find her at Charly’s, where she leads the weekly Irish Night, and at her monthly Wild Irish Community Dances, in addition to playing at music festivals, contra dances, and house concerts around Arizona with her duo Wild World Irish Fiddle, with legendary Latin and multigenre guitarist Armand Ramirez. Their unique and vibrant pulse weaves virtuosity, rooted traditions, and spontaneous, intoxicating fusion for an unforgettable experience.
