Deborah Mechigian has been painting for over 20 years. She was born in Detroit, attended Michigan State University, moved to Chicago and became a clothing designer, then went to culinary school after moving to Tucson. An executive chef at The Amerind Museum in Dragoon, Az. she and her husband retired then moved to Flagstaff. Deborah now dedicates her free time to painting, teaching landscape painting, showing in Flagstaff Art In The Park and Flagstaff Open Studios and learning how to Plein Air well. Her mediums are acrylic and recently pastel, the Grand Canyon is her muse.

Artist Statement: 

I love to teach people how to see the magnificent colors in our land then put it on canvas. There is magic in every vista, sunrise, sunset and thundercloud. That is what inspires me to paint.
