Joe Troop is from North Carolina and is a GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass and oldtime musician. Larry was forced into exile and is an asylum seeker in North Carolina. Joe\, after a decade in South America\, got stranded back in his stomping grounds in the pandemic. Larry worked construction to make ends meet. Four musicians from very different musical backgrounds came together to create a full-time professional touring band with the aim of showcasing the rich tradition of songs and tunes of the North East of Scotland on an international stage. \nLike many of the early flag bearing Scottish folk bands\, the Old Blind Dogs line up has faced inevitable changes over the years but the core values at the band’s musical heart continue to beat strong. The project title refers to German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s (1844-1900) existentialist quote that begins\, “The body is a great intelligence\,” (Thus Spoke Zarathustra\, 1883)\, and infers that the human body and soul are one. This title is illuminated in Castro’s own artistic philosophy\, which confronts the body\, people who reject the body\, and how the body is approached as subject and identity. Castro’s personal bodily transgressions and tests of endurance are vehicles for his discourse about geographic landscapes and political borders. DESCRIPTION:Learn More\n\n\n\n\n\nYOUTH ARTS 2024: Color Outside the Lines \nOpening Reception: March 2\, 4-8 pm \nMarch 2 – 23\, 2024 in the Main Gallery \n\nThe annual Youth Arts exhibition showcases local youth artists in Coconino County and the regional community\, exhibiting their recent artwork at Coconino Center for the Arts. The exhibition is open to and inclusive of all artwork submissions by youth artists (pre-K to 12th grade\, living in Coconino or Navajo counties) that reflect the theme Color Outside the Lines. \nOur objective is to engage youth audiences throughout Northern Arizona and support a wide range of art disciplines. This exhibition is non-juried and all submissions were accepted. \nAll Youth Arts workshops and programming are FREE and open to the public.
