Alebrijes: Students will watch a short film in order to learn and understand where alebrijes come from and what is the meaning of them. They will create their own figure using crayola model magic and acrylic paint.

How to Create a Manga Story by Jasmine Serpas
Saturday, November 5th, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Manga is a style of Japanese comic/novel for children and adults to read. Students will create a story using their own characters or characters that they already know. They will have different sizes of sharpies to draw on a three page layout to create their own story.

“Home” by Jingwen Li
Saturday, November 12th, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In this session, participants will be taken on a narrative journey into the life of a “child refugee.” Participants will work together on a long scroll with the theme of “home” using traditional Chinese painting techniques, constructing a vivid and imaginative “home” for the “child refugee” with their hands.

HOME SMACKDOWN! by Kaylee Cossey
Saturday, November 19th, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Students will be able to create their own imprints of a home on a piece of foam to then “smackdown” on their fall themed background. The notion of “smackdown” is the process of stamping or pressing firmly down on their foam to create a printed image. Once students create their relief prints, they will end up with a neighborhood full of their own unique little homes!
