Tad’s Emerging World: Glen Canyon Exposed – Photography and Film by Dawn Kish Conservation photographer Dawn Kish documents the hidden treasure of the Southwest known as Glen Canyon. This epic landscape of red sandstone walls, flowing rivers and cultural sites lies under the giant reservoir of Lake Powell. When Kish visited the lake in 2022 with Tad Nichols’ (1911-2000) original Crown Graphic 4×5 camera that the late celebrated photographer used to document Glen Canyon from 1950-1963, the lake was at its lowest water level since the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963. Kish asks: What is emerging? What will be learned? What is preserved? What will develop? Glen Canyon’s destiny is still unknown.
